Basses

The largest of the instruments in the band with 2 E-flat and 2 B-flat basses making the full compliment. It takes a lot of puff to play one of these instruments, so bass players tend to be on the large size!

DAVE HUSH - E Flat Bass

Bass players are often quite large but Dave is the largest player we have ever had in the band standing at 6 foot 8 inches. He currently works in the City and enjoys spending his spare time playing with his young son Harvey and daughter Lottie. He is currently on the band committee and is the band's Chairman.

PETER HORSMAN - E Flat Bass

Peter took up playing again after a long break of over 25 years!. It is not quite riding a bike where you never forget but it doesn't take too long to get back into the swing of things. Peter is currently on the band committee, and is the band's Treasurer.

CHARLES SLANEY - B Flat Bass

Charles in one of a pair of identical twins. The other one is James on bass trombone. A computer analyst/programmer and avid follower of the England National Football team, he is married to Elizabeth who plays horn. Charles joined the band with his brother back in the 70's but took a 9 year sabbatical when he moved to University in London. He returned to the band in 91 playing horn before moving onto bass to help at a contest later that year and has been there ever since!
