Regional Contests
During the late 80's and early 90's 'Brighton (Buses) Silver Band' (as we were known then) were heavily involved in contesting, entering competitions held in Lewisham, Hemel Hempstead, Thurrock and Lemington Spa. These brass band contests were run by other regional associations - including the West Midlands Brass Band Association and the London Area Association.
Our Musical Director and conductor at the time, John Williams, was very keen on the competitive side of banding. The band were very successful during this period, and enjoyed travelling around southern England looking forward to the next big challenging piece. The results can be seen below.
Since Matthew Hackett our current MD joined us he has shown a keen interest in the competitive side of banding as well. The band are now contesting outside of the SCABA region for the first time since 1991.
